USLA organised a fundraiser on 7 May 2023 to support Cyclone Gabrielle recovery work. As a community that call New Zealand ‘Home’ managed to raise $3000 from our Food Fundraiser. The money raised was donated to the Hawke’s Bay Regional Disaster Relief Fund. The scale of the devastation and destruction across Te Matau a Māui Hawke’s Bay was considerable. Lives were lost and livelihoods were literally swept away. Whole communities were destroyed, and many people were left with nothing but the clothes they were wearing when they were rescued from rooftops when the flood waters struck. It was yet another monumental event led by USLA in collaboration with our community.
